1 MR. MCGOFF: I'd like to call this
2 public hearing to order. Roll call, please.
3 MS. MAGNOTTA: Mrs. Evans.
4 MS. EVANS: Here.
5 MS. MAGNOTTA: Mrs. Gatelli. Mrs.
6 Fanucci. Mr. Courtright.
7 MR. COURTRIGHT: Here.
8 MS. MAGNOTTA: Mr. McGoff.
9 MR. MCGOFF: Here. The purpose of
10 said public hearing is to hear testimony and
11 discuss the following:
12 FILE OF COUNCIL NO. 81, 2009 - AN
13 ORDINANCE - ESTABLISHING PERMIT PARKING ONLY
14 IN THE 700 BLOCK OF EAST OLIVE STREET FROM
15 MADISON AVENUE TO MOIR COURT.
16 Speakers, Ozzie Quinn.
17 MR. QUINN: Thank you. Ozzie Quinn,
18 Taxpayers' Association. I'm all for the
19 permit parking because they have a tough
20 time up there, but I would like to you to
21 consider, you know, getting rid of those
22 meters around the hospital. That's unkind
23 to have people who have to run in there,
24 somebody in an emergency or whatever it may
25 be, and they come out and they get a ticket.
4
1 Thank you.
2 MR. MCGOFF: Ron Ellman.
3 MR. ELLMAN: I think there is enough
4 permit parking in this town. Almost all of
5 the houses around the hospital have a
6 backyard with a garage or where a garage has
7 been torn down and it's just a mess over
8 there. You know, if the University of
9 Scranton made the freshman and the
10 sophomores not have cars you probably
11 wouldn't need permit parking, but there is
12 enough permit parking. You can't find a
13 place. It's just -- you know, you got to
14 think of the city instead of an individual
15 all of the time. Thank you.
16 MR. MCGOFF: Anyone else? I now
17 declare this public hearing closed.
