The Department of Public Works responsibilities are diverse and complex, covering all four seasons. The Department is
comprised of the Highway Division, the Refuse Division, the Recycling Division, the Traffic Maintenance Division and the
Fleet Maintenance Division. The Department of Public Works is responsible for the collection of all refuse and recycling.

The Highway Division is responsible for a multitude of tasks. They are responsible for maintenance of all City streets
and bridges, avenues, courts and alleys, as well as snow removal from all City streets.

To pick up recycling bins come to 101 West Poplar Street, Scranton, PA 18509.

We are very happy to announce there will be a free TV and Monitor recycling collection available to Scranton residents in June.

From June 12th thru June 26th municipal trucks will be allowed to deliver TVs and Monitors (no accessories) free of charge to the Lackawanna County Recycling Center From 7 am. to noon and 12:30 p. m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Only municipal trucks will be afforded the no fee privilege.

ANY INDIVIDUAL RESIDENT WILL BE CHARGED THE CURRENT RATE OF $1.85/lb.
AT THE RECYCLING CENTER.


TVs and Monitors must not be dissembled. For example: All cords must remain on: if encased in a console the entire unit must be presented intact. Provisions have been made with the Recycling Center for One TV/Monitor per household. Place TV/Monitor on the curb for Pickup and call DPW Dispatcher 570-348-4178.
