    Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine 525 Pine St, Scranton, Pennsylvania

    The Turkey Trot 5/10k will be the 15th annual race in Scranton. This race is a partnership between Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and Friends of the Poor - Scranton, which provides food, housing, clothing, and more to those in need within the NEPA region.

  • 29th Annual Santa Parade

    Downtown Scranton

    This parade ushers in the holiday season to Downtown Scranton every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The parade includes balloons, floats, bands, and many walking units. The parade ends with a visit from Santa Claus.

  • 47th Annual Thanksgiving Community Program

    Scranton Cultural Center 420 N. Washington Ave., Scranton, Pennsylvania

    Friends of the Poor is proud to once again announce three community-based programs to help those in need this Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving Dinner for Adults and Elderly, the Family-to-Family Thanksgiving Food Basket Program, and the Interfaith Prayer Service. In light of the current pandemic, the dinner and food basket program will be drive-through once again.
