June 5, 2024

Officials from the City of Scranton, Scranton City Council, and the Scranton Municipal Recreation Authority unveiled design concepts for the future pool complex at Nay Aug Park, 500 Arthur Ave., Scranton, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The new complex is supported by $3 million of Scranton’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

“We’ve done an incredible amount of work on our parks through the Rescue Plan, and this pool complex at Nay Aug represents continued investment in our City’s most treasured park,” said Scranton Mayor Paige G. Cognetti. “We look forward to summer fun here at Nay Aug for generations to come.”

In its revised ARPA spending plan, which was approved by City Council in October 2023, the City reallocated $3 million to go towards a new swim complex at Nay Aug. Scranton also received a $1 million grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Local Share Account program in May 2023. Additional grant funding will be sought to help finish the project.

Upon its anticipated completion in summer 2026, the Nay Aug Park pool will be one of six total pool facilities available in Scranton. The City also offers a splash pad at Novembrino Park, 200 10th Avenue with a second splash pad planned for Capouse Avenue Park, 1300 Capouse Avenue. Outdoors pools available by 2026 will include Connell Park at 800 Gibbons Street, Weston Field at 982 Providence Road, and Weston Park at 100 Spring Street. The City also offers an indoor pool at Weston Field.
