Applications Open for Scranton 2026 Veterans’ Grants Through April 6

SCRANTON, PA. – Mayor Paige G. Cognetti announced that a total of $100,000 in grants are available to nonprofit organizations located within the City of Scranton that serve veterans and their families. Applications open now through Mon., April 6, 2026. Groups can apply online through OpenGov at www.scrantonpa.gov/2026Veterans

“The respected members of our veteran community deserve our support when they return home to Scranton,” Mayor Paige G. Cognetti said. “We are pleased to provide this funding each year to close potential service gaps as we continue to provide additional services through our partner organizations.”

Grants are available for programming including supportive services, homelessness prevention, mental health services, addiction recovery, financial assistance, home rehabilitation, and more.

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(19), or 501(c)(23) that serves veterans and their families in Scranton. Groups will also need to demonstrate financial management and programmatic expertise, along with documenting all service or program expenses.

Funding decisions will be made by a committee to include representation of veterans. Programs may be funded in part or in full based on available funds, with priority given to applicants that demonstrate how programs will prioritize and support low-income veterans. All funds must be used by December 31, 2026.

In 2025, recipients were awarded a total of $100,000 to support local veterans memorial parks, mental health and holistic wellness services including food and housing security programs, and improvements to veterans social organizations.
