Juvenile Unit
The Juvenile Unit reports to the Detective Division. They are responsible for the investigation of crimes committed by young offenders and those under the age of eighteen. The duties are similar to that of the Detective. They conduct interviews and interrogation of those young people who either witness or are accused of a crime.
The Juvenile Unit works closely with the Lackawanna County Juvenile Court System, which includes the Juvenile Probation and Parole Office. The most consistent duty of the unit is to locate runaway children that have been reported to the Police Department. Juvenile Officers also work closely with the School Resource officers and build rapport with the students in the Scranton School District.
