Mayor Paige G. Cognetti and City Councilmembers issued a joint proclamation honoring Erin Moskalczak at last night’s City Council meeting. As part of her role at NBC Sports, Erin Moskalczak was recently awarded an “Outstanding Live Special” Sports Emmy for her contribution to NBC Sports’ coverage of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
Moskalczak was born and raised in Scranton, having grown up in the Scranton School District and graduated from Scranton High School in 2004. She continued her education at Penn State University, receiving a BA in Telecommunications from the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications in 2008.
After a career in digital transmission, production management, event management, and support of the Big Ten Network, Moskalczak joined NBC Sports as a Studio Supervisor. During the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, she worked as an Associate Producer covering the games. Moskalczak is currently a Senior Manager in Production Scheduling, tasked with implementing studio and remote production crews for all NBC Sports properties.
“Erin has had an impressive career at NBC Sports, and we are always eager to honor Scranton’s success stories,” said Mayor Cognetti. “We at the City are proud to see Scranton represented at the 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards.”
“This is a great honor, and it just goes to show what our kids from the Scranton School District can accomplish,” said Councilmember Bill King. “Erin is one of many of our students through the years that has gone on to do tremendous things. Congratulations to Erin and her family.”
Moskalczak’s parents, Ron and Mary Ann Moskalczak, attended the City Council meeting and accepted the proclamation on their daughter’s behalf.
Proclamation requests can be made via an online form on the City’s website.
