SCRANTON, PA. – Residents in the City of Scranton who need to properly dispose of live Christmas trees can do so for free in the weeks of Jan. 5 and 19, 2026.
Live Christmas trees should have all decorations removed, including lights and ornaments. Trees can be placed curbside alongside combined paper and cardboard for collection by the Department of Public Works, no more than 24 hours before regularly scheduled pickup.
Pickup during the week of January 19 will be delayed by one day due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
Proper disposal of Christmas trees helps reduce negative impacts on our local environment.
