Crews have begun installing Scranton City Hall’s newly restored stained-glass windows, marking a key phase in the $4.7 million restoration project aimed at preserving the 136-year-old historical landmark.
The restoration project, which began in February 2024, includes extensive updates to the building’s stained glass, masonry, and roofing. The stained-glass windows were carefully removed earlier this year and are being refurbished by Kasmark Stained Glass LLC.
The total cost of the project is $4,786,376, funded in part by $1.5 million through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) and a portion of the City’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. This restoration is one of several capital budget improvements proposed to City Council in September 2023.
The project is expected to be completed early 2025.
