At its regular meeting on Tues., Oct. 15, 2024, Scranton City Council:
- Introduced a resolution to apply for a Local Share Account (LSA) statewide grant for up to $350,000 to be used towards the City’s pre-design, design, and construction oversight of Engine 10. The project is essential to modernize and improve the fire station’s infrastructure, ensuring that it meets current safety standards and operational needs. The resolution was introduced by a vote of 5-0.
- Adopted an ordinance approving an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Scranton’s Department of Public Works and the Scranton School District regarding the borrowing of a refuse truck. The district is currently without a refuse truck for its daily operations. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5-0.
- Adopted a resolution to enter into a contract for $105,262.84 with Social Contract, LLC, to perform services for the Community Violence Intervention (CVI) and Prevention Program. The City and its partners, including Lackawanna County and the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office, are committed to a program that intervenes directly with individuals experiencing violence and to provide evidence-based programming to disrupt the cycle of violence. Costs will be shared between the City and the County. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5-0.
- Adopted a resolution to appoint Megan Alpert as a member of the Scranton Housing Authority to fill the unexpired term of Mary Ann Sinclair, beginning immediately and expiring on Sept. 27, 2026. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5-0.
