Special Operations Group – SOG

The mission of the Special Operations Group (S.O.G.) is to save lives by attempting to reduce the risk of injury and loss of life to hostages, innocent citizens, law enforcement officers and suspects.

S.O.G. is a designated law enforcement team whose members are recruited, selected, trained, equipped and assigned to resolve critical incidents involving a threat to public safety, which would otherwise exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement first responders and/or investigative units. The incidents are usually tense, uncertain and rapidly evolving.  Those incidents commonly include:

  • Hostage Incidents
  • Barricade Incidents
  • High Risk Warrant Service
  • Active Threat Incidents
  • Personal Protection Details
  • Civil Disturbance Support
  • Special Assignments

The Special Operations Group consists of a tactical team equipped with specialized tools, crisis negotiators, and tactical emergency medical staff.  The Group is often augmented with K9 teams and hazardous devices technicians.  More importantly, S.O.G. maintains high standards, a rigorous training schedule and an unwavering dedication to their mission.
